Kurt Russell is suffering from a cancerous flesh-eating disease, Globe reports.
A serious flesh-eating disease caused by various bacteria. “Necrotizing fasciitis is a dangerous illness that can rapidly spread throughout the body, causing severe tissue and organ damage,” said the article.
This condition, believed to be related to PJS, has varying symptoms, from none to polyp growths in the small intestine, potentially becoming cancerous if left untreated. Early detection and management are crucial to prevent these polyps from becoming life-threatening tumors.
The 65-year-old Hateful 8 star has been spotted with ugly sores beneath his lower lip that are said to be caused by Peutz-Jeghers syndrome (PJS), which is linked to intestinal cancer, sources tell the publication.
“The lifetime risk of cancer in people with PJS may be as high as 93 percent,” according to Cancer.Net.
Dr. Stuart Fischer, who does not treat Kurt, tells Globe the sores are “precancerous lesions that can become invasive and dangerous if not treated quickly and efficiently.”
Dr. Fischer adds that the sores may be the result of PJS: “He needs treatment as soon as possible.”
Dr. Gabe Mirkin, an immunologist based in Maryland, agrees that Kurt “needs immediate tests.”
Kurt and longtime partner Goldie Hawn, 71, have been fighting in recent months, Globe also reports.
