There’s a strong case to be made for Taylor Swift being just about the most famous person in the world right now. Seriously, thanks to her barnstorming Eras tour, as well as her high-profile relationship with NFL star Travis Kelce – not to mention the ever-expanding catalog of musical hits she boasts – there can’t be many people on Earth who wouldn’t recognize her.
While I wouldn’t know (I’m not über famous) my suspicions are that it’s a bit of a poisoned chalice, the old fame thing. On the one hand it must be great to be adored by millions, to have untold riches, and know that whenever you step foot outside of your home, people are going to want to meet you.
On the other hand, there are a whole lot of downsides that come with being so recognizable and popular. Take, for example, the fact that no matter what you do, no matter where you go, no matter how you’re feeling or what you’re wearing, you’re going to be scrutinized.
This is to be expected when you reach the upper echelons of fame, of course, and for the most part we would assume that a veritable superstar like Taylor Swift will be all too used it by now.
But that’s not to say there aren’t aspects of the coverage she gets – and the subsequent fan reaction – that leave a sour taste in one’s mouth. They do in mine, in any case, particularly when they relate to the singer’s figure or speculate over the idea that she’s with child.
Only yesterday did we report how internet users had been all too ready to criticize Swift following her appearance at last week’s NFL fixture between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Baltimore Ravens. Travis Kelce, Swift’s boyfriend, plays as tight end for the Chiefs, remember, so it was hardly a surprise when the Bad Blood hitmaker turned out to show him some support.
The couple were then spotted again at the US Open on September 8, prompting a fresh wave of comments centered around Swift’s appearance. The 34-year-old wore a red and white checkered dress for the occasion, and apparently a fair number of those who saw the pictures when they later emerged online were of the opinion that she was hiding something pretty significant beneath it.
The dress in question, reportedly available at Reformation, is purchasable online for $248 and has a fitted bodice and thin straps.
Yet it wasn’t the beauty of the garment that proved half so popular as the idea that Swift might be pregnant! While we’re hesitant to throw our weight behind the speculation based on the fact that there’s no evidence aside from the chirping of people online, there are those significantly more convinced.
“She looks pregnant 🤰 ❤️,” wrote one fan on Instagram.
“Is she pregnant?!” another asked.
“That GIRL is pregnant lol,” said a third.
One X user wrote: “Is Taylor Swift pregnant? She’s so thin, but with a slight belly.”
A fifth person penned: “Okay belly either she’s full or pregnant either way I’m happy for her ☺️.”
Naturally neither Swift nor Kelce have commented on the pregnancy rumors, though the couple certainly appear very much in love with one another.
