French pole vaulter Anthony Ammirati left commentators lost for words as he was eliminated from the qualifiers at the Paris Olympics

A pole vaulter at the Olympics has broken his silence after he went crashing out of the men’s qualifiers in NSFW fashion.

France’s Anthony Ammirati competed in the men’s pole vault qualification at the Paris Olympics on Saturday (August 3).

Despite hoping he’d make the final, Ammirati missed out on a spot due to a rather unfortunate reason.

After successfully clearing 5.40 meters and 5.60 meters, the Olympian struggled to clear 5.70 meters.

His third attempt was the closest, but it was his own body that ended his hopes.

Yep, his penis clipped the bar on his way over and it came crashing down.

A clip of the moment has been shared on social media countless times at this point, leading to perhaps some unexpected fame for the Frenchman.

The 21-year-old has now broken his silence on becoming a bit of a social media sensation.

Ammirati was understandably frustrated by the mishap, though he didn’t directly reference the NSFW incident.

He told the French Athletics Federation: “I’m a bit gutted, because I didn’t miss anything on the third attempt at 5.70 m. What I did miss was a bit of jumping in training to fine-tune the settings. Just a technical session.

Anthony Ammirati failed the bar and the commentators are clearly having a hard time acknowledging what happened 😂 HELP I’M DYING

“I was 100 percent physically, but I was missing a bit of pole vault.

“The conditions were good. It’s the first time I’ve started a competition without any stress. As I was a total outsider, I only had one goal: to interact with the audience. I was almost there.”

He added: “I’m just glad I can make people smile and laugh. And who knows, maybe this will be the start of something amazing!”

When the crotch collision happened in real time, it’s fair to say Olympic commentators were left pretty stunned.

One asked: “What happened here?”

Another commentator appeared to reply ‘On the way down…’ while others made some rather unusual sounds as they came to realize exactly what happened.

And it’s the commentators response in particular that’s had many viewers in stitches.

One person tweeted: “Anthony Ammirati failed the bar and the commentators are clearly having a hard time acknowledging what happened. I’M DYING.”

“The struggle to keep it professional when it’s so painfully obvious is too real,” said another.

“Loses vault. Wins internet,” another person penned

“When you lose but you still win,” quipped someone else.

Commentators stunned as Olympic pole vaulter misses out on medal when unfortunate body part clips bar

Pole vaulter Anthony Ammirati was representing France at this year’s Olympics

We’ve all had a bad day at the office, but this guy’s just happened to be caught on camera for millions to see in slow motion.

France’s Anthony Ammirati competed in the men’s pole vault qualification of the athletics event at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games yesterday (August 3), but sadly missed out on his chance to compete in tomorrow’s final for a very unfortunate reason.

Ammirati successfully cleared 5.40 meters and 5.60 meters, but struggled to clear 5.70 meters.

He’d come very close to doing so on his third try but sadly his own body deceived him and his package, so to say, clipped the pole on his way over and came crashing down.

This was then played back in slow motion and it’s say to say it left Olympic commentators speechless.

One asked: “What happened here?”

Another commentator appeared to reply ‘On the way down…’ and the others made an awkward sound as they came to realize exactly what happened.

Their response has left viewers in stitches. One person tweeted: “Anthony Ammirati failed the bar and the commentators are clearly having a hard time acknowledging what happened. I’M DYING.”

“The struggle to keep it professional when it’s so painfully obvious is too real,” said another.

A third added: “They definitely knew why but just couldn’t say it out loud.”

Others said that Ammirati might have lost his shot at a medal, but he definitely won in other ways…

“Loses vault. Wins internet,” one person penned.

“When you lose but you still win,” quipped someone else.

A different person joked: “I am sure he will be compensated at the Olympic Village.”

Fortunately Ammirati has been a good sport about his newfound viral fame. Speaking to the French Athletic Federation, the 21-year-old said: “I’m just glad I can make people smile and laugh. And who knows, maybe this will be the start of something amazing!”

He did express his disappointment at losing, however. Ammirati ended up placing 15th in the contest.

“It’s a big disappointment,” the first-time Olympian admitted. “The conditions were good. It’s the first time I’ve started a competition without any stress. As I was a total outsider, I only had one goal: to play with the audience. I was almost there.”

There’s always Los Angeles 2028, Anthony!

People spot moment bee almost completely ruins Olympic archer's shot in one-in-a-million incident

The bee caused a bit of nuisance at the archery semi-finals at the Olympics

The Olympic Games only come around every four years, so you really don’t want to mess it up.

Well, archery athlete Kim Je-deok had to remain calm and shoot a perfect shot despite a bee landing on the back of his hand.

The pest did so during the men’s archery team event in Paris on Monday (July 29) as Je-deok was competing for South Korea.

The distraction happened during the semi-final against China, and it seems everyone at home spotted it.

Sharing a clip of the bee pestering South Korea women’s archery team to Twitter, the ‘non aesthetic things’ account penned: “Years of training just for a bee to f**k it all up.”

During Je-deok’s game, the first set ended in a tie at 54 points apiece.

However, South Korea rebounded in the second set, making the third set a crucial one.

If Je-deok and co was able to perform, it would clinch a spot in the final for South Korea.

With the score at 36-53, Je-deok stepped up with just two arrows remaining.

Though, a bee began buzzing around the Olympian as he prepared to shoot.

The athlete tried to wave the bee away and continue, but it retuned to land on his right hand.

Somehow, Je-deok managed to fire the arrow and score a perfect ten.

His teammate, Kim Woo-jin, finished the job and secured South Korea’s spot in the final with another ten.

Years of training just for a bee to fuck it all up 😭😭

And the Korean archers were later victorious against France, claiming the gold medal for the third consecutive Olympics.

Je-deok was asked about the bee incident in a subsequent press conference.

“As I approached the shooting line, a bee appeared,” the athlete explained.

“I shooed it away but it followed me. When it landed on my hand, I reminded myself, ‘This is the Olympics,’ and I couldn’t lower my arms. I had a strong determination to shoot.”

He had a feeling he would score a ten and that is probably because of the important training all South Korean archers undertake.

They undergo specialized training to help them stay calm and focused in extreme conditions and amid distractions.

Je-deok made history at the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games by becoming the youngest Korean male archery gold medalist at the age of 17.

He now has three Olympic medals under his belt at just 20 years old.
