Mamiko Noto and Daisuke Namikawa resume their roles as the central duo, Sawako Kuronuma and Shota Kazehaya. Additionally, the anime treated fans to a special recap video covering the first two seasons on December 30, coinciding with Sawako’s birthday celebration.
Penned and illustrated by Karuho Shiina, the “Kimi ni Todoke: From Me to You” manga series found its home in Shueisha’s Bessatsu Margaret from 2005 to 2017, spanning 30 volumes. Notably, both prior anime seasons were also brought to life by Production I.G, with the first comprising 25 episodes from Fall 2009 to Winter 2010, and the second consisting of 12 episodes in Winter 2011. Moreover, a live-action film starring Mikako Tabe and Haruma Miura debuted in 2010, alongside a 12-episode live-action series that premiered on Netflix in March of this year.
Viz Media secured the English licensing rights for the manga, offering this synopsis: Sawako Kuronuma, often likened to a character from a horror movie due to her eerie appearance, is, in truth, a gentle and misunderstood teenager yearning for companionship. Despite her shy demeanor, her earnest desire is to forge genuine friendships. However, when the most popular boy in class extends a hand of friendship, Sawako’s journey takes an unexpected turn, leading her to encounter both allies and adversaries along the way.
