In 2011, Joao Pereira de Souza discovered a penguin in distress, desperately gasping for its final breath, along the shore near Rio de Janeiro. Driven by his compassionate nature, Joao saved the penguin and nurtured it back to health.
Shortly after the penguin regained its ability to stand, Joao returned it to its natural habitat.

To our surprise, the penguin made its way back to the exact location where Joao had rescued it a year ago. They both returned home as a pair. Due to a noticeable sense of thankfulness, the penguin pays a yearly visit to Joao at the exact location, a distance of 5,000 miles from its initial dwelling place.

He gave the penguin the name Dindim. The pair developed their friendship and even stayed together for a period of eight months before returning to the coastal regions of Chile and Argentina in preparation for the breeding season.
